How much will it cost to rent a Yoyoor TripPal to take with me on my next China trip?

Charges are composed of three parts:

1. Rental fees for the TripPal Classic (US$7.98/day, minimum 3 days); Rental fees for TripPal Elite are US$12.00/day with unlimited outgoing local and domestic long distance calls and free for incoming calls

2. Call for assistance: US$ per call (free of charge for current promotion campaign)

3. Phone usage charges:

TripPal Elite: shall include, but not be limited to international call charges. Included in the rental charges are an accessory package (phone case, adapter), unlimited data transfer, which means you can access your emails and internet at anytime.

TripPal Classic : shall include, but not be limited to domestic call charges and international call charges. Included in the rental charges are an accessory package (phone case, adapter), unlimited data transfer, which means you can access your emails and internet at anytime.

What if I lose my Yoyoor TripPal?

If the phone is lost you are responsible for all calls made on the cellular phone until you call to report it lost or stolen. We will try our best to deactivate all services and assist traveler to locate the handset. If we can not locate the phone, you will be responsible for the replacement cost of the Yoyoor TripPal which is approximately US$500. You are responsible for the replacement value of the accessories as listed below:

EZphone

What is EZphone?

EZphone is a mobile phone rental service for visitors to China who are interested in a pay-as-you-go rental program. The aim of EZphone is to provide a rental phone option for budget travelers and long-term visitors to China because there are no daily rental fees. EZphone is easy to use and includes free access to Yoyoor’s famous live bilingual Call Center.

Who can benefit from using EZphone?

EZphone was introduced for budget travelers and for those who make long-term visits to China. Budget travelers may not need to make many phone calls while in China, but can use EZphone for the situations in which they really need a phone. Long-term visitors to China can take advantage of the free rental fee and use EZphone for an extended amount of time.

What is the difference between Yoyoor's original TripPal rental package and EZphone?

With Yoyoor's original package, subscribers get an advanced phone with a host of comprehensive travel services. With EZphone, subscribers rent a standard mobile phone to use in China, but still have access to Yoyoor’s Call Center and other value-added services. Yoyoor’s original TripPal has a little lower airtime rates than EZphone; therefore, determining which package suits you depends on how many phone calls you plan on making.

What if I lose my Yoyoor EZphone?

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at anytime by calling our Call Center.

How will I be billed?

For TripPal

Standard billing policy for TripPal is a US$500.00 credit card pre-authorization (not a charge) against rental and usage fees. At the end of the rental term, customer will be billed for the actual fees. You will receive an itemized bill upon your return, detailing charges to your credit card. Alternate billing arrangements can be arranged.

For EZphone

Standard billing policy for EZphone is a US$150.00 credit card pre-authorization (not a charge) against usage fees. At the end of the rental term, customer will be billed for the actual fees. You will receive an itemized bill upon your return, detailing charges to your credit card. Alternate billing arrangements can be arranged.

What are my up front charges?

Nothing. All airtime charges will be charged to you after use. You will never run out of credit or need to buy recharge vouchers. Your usage will be calculated and charged once your phone has been returned. We only put an pre-authorization (not a charge) of US$500.00 for TripPal, or US$150.00 for EZphone on your credit card at the time of ordering.

Can I use a debit card to complete my transaction?

We recommend not to use a debit card because when we need to be authorized the US$500.00 or US$150.00 on your card the bank will physically take away the amount and you will have to wait until the freeze is over to get your money back (it usually takes about 30 days).

What is an pre-authorization?

An pre-authorization is different from a deposit because the funds are not actually taken from the account. Your bank will place a "hold" or "freeze" of funds against your credit card's available account balance. It is similar to when a bank places a "hold" on a check you want to cash. Once the pre-authorization is released, the funds are then available to be used. Pre-authorization are automatically released when your credit card is charged at the end of your rental.

What is a deposit?

In some instances Yoyoor might require a deposit. A deposit is an actual charge taken from your credit card account. In the event that Yoyoor takes a deposit from your account, the money will be held until a statement has been processed and charged to your account. When your final Yoyoor statement is processed, your credit card will be refunded or charged accordingly.

When will I receive my bill?

Invoices are processed within 2-4 weeks of your return. These are charged to your credit card and we would send you an email including itemized bill for costs incurred during your mobile rental period as well as an attached detailed mobile bill. The first invoice may or may not reflect all calls made. Due to varying service agreements with different wireless carriers, though rare, some call charges may take up to 60 days to be billed and will appear on subsequent invoices. Long-term renters such as students are billed on a monthly basis.

Am I billed for every call?

For TripPal Classic and EZphone you will be billed for every attempted call. As with all cellular services, the possibility of dropped and disconnected calls exists.

For TripPal Elite, outgoing calls within China and all the incoming calls are free. The outgoing international calls and call-forwarding calls will be listed.

When I call for assistance, is there any charge?

Yes, we charge US$1 per call plus phone airtime charge at a rate of US$0.20 per minute. However, assistance fee may be exempted in some special promotion occasions, which is subjective to Yoyoor's decision.

If I need to extend my Yoyoor service, what is the charge?

You can continue with the same rate as before. Please let us know 1 day before your contract expires if you would like to continue to use the service.

If I rent long-term will there be a discount?

Yes, we do have a special long-term rental discount plan. Please contact us today at Yoyo@yoyoor.com to get more information.

If I pre-registered and decided not to use the handset, do I get a complete refund? How much lead time do I need to notify you?

Reservations may be cancelled up to 3 business days (Mon.-Fri.) in advance for a full refund. Cancellations with fewer than 3 business days will result in a 50% loss of the total rental fee. Furthermore, no-shows or rentals cancelled with fewer than 24 hours notice will be charged IN FULL and will result in the loss of the rental fee.

Are there any hidden charges?

We have no hidden fees, reservation fees or any other fancy charges. All our charges are presented to you up front in an easy to read format without any small print.

Is there any charge for accessing my e-mail ?

No. It is free.

How do you charge late fee?

1. We will charge a late fee of US$0.50/ 0.5 day (US$1.00 per day);
2. Late fee calculation:
Example 1: A half day grace period is granted if the customer returns the cellphone at the
              airport, late fee is calculated after 12 a.m. e.g. If the rental period is from 10th to
              20th, the renter returns the cellphone by noon of 21th, no late fee will be charged.
              Late fee is charged after 12 a.m.
Example 2: A grace period of 3 days is granted if the cellphone is returned by courier. e.g. If
              the rental period is from 10th to 20th, the package is received by 23rd (including the
              23rd), no late fee will be charged. Late fee will be calculated from the 24th on.

How far in advance do I have to order?

We can accept a reservation anytime online or through our call center. We do recommend you place the order at least 3 business days in advance.

How do you handle hardware failure?

We will make sure all handsets are in good working condition before delivery. In case of failure, simply let us know and we will arrange to have it fixed or replaced immediately.

Where can I pick up the handset? Where to drop it off?

You can call Yoyo Helpline to arrange delivery/pickup time/place, or arrange it during the online order process.

Getting Your Phone:
i. Phone can be delivered by courier to the traveler's hotel or place of residence, anywhere in mainland China. ($10 charge)

ii. Phone can be delivered to the traveler at the airport*. Yoyoor and the traveler will arrange a specific time and place to meet. Yoyoor staff will wait for the traveler for one and a half hours after the pre-arranged time. If the traveler fails to meet at this time, applicable delivery charges will be at Yoyoor's discretion. ($10 charge)

Returning Your Phone:

i. Yoyoor will arrange for a courier to pick up the phone at the traveler's hotel or place of residene, anywhere in mainland China. ($10 charge)

ii. Phone can be returned by the traveler at the airport*. Yoyoor and the traveler will arrange a specific time and place to meet. Yoyoor staff will wait for the traveler for one and a half hours after the pre-arranged time. If the traveler fails to meet at this time, applicable pick-up charges will be at Yoyoor's discretion. ($10 charge)

iii. Traveler can make own arrangements to deliver the phone back to Yoyoor. In such cases however, the traveler will be responsible if the phone is lost or damaged the during delivery process.

   Beijing and Shanghai.

Is there insurance that I could buy to insure for lost or damage?

At this time, we do not offer insurance.

If I forget to drop off the handset while I was in china,
is there any other means of returning it?

You may send it back to our North America Warehouse located at: 2708 Cutler Ave, Fremont, CA 94536, U.S.A.

Note: Any equipment not returned within five days of due date without prior notice by renter, may be considered lost, stolen or missing unless arrangements have been made to extend the rental term.

Will I be charged for the time that it takes to be returned?

No. Rental period is from the date you receive the phone until the date the service ends. You will not be charged for the delivery time.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at anytime by calling our Call Center. For Yoyoor TripPal services, you may also unsubscribe it on the TripPal phone.

Is there a cancellation fee?

This is no cancellation fee. However, if you cancel once the package has been shipped, you are responsible for the shipping fees.

Service quality

How can you guarantee that the service quality is both excellent and efficient?

Our bilingual call staff members are fluent in both English and Chinese. They are fully trained to translate your requests, provide you with directions or to help you to communicate in a wide range of situations. We focus on training to make sure we provide top-notch service. We also do periodic review and monitoring services of the call staff, by checking answer response time, customer interviews, etc.

Will conversations be recorded for training purposes?

Yes, we randomly record conversations for training purposes to maintain the quality of our service.

What kind of call quality should I expect?

In most cities, wireless GSM service and coverage is very good. Because the network is 100% digital, sound quality is superior to the older analog (AMPS) systems. With all cellular systems, including those in China, reception varies as you travel. In metropolitan areas with digital networks, you can expect good coverage. Remote areas such as wilderness and mountains may not have coverage due to low population density. Yoyoor cannot guarantee coverage in any particular area.

Using your phone

How do my friends call my rental phone from the USA and other countries?

To make a phone call to your rental phone number from the USA, your friends should dial "011" first, followed by the China country code "86"and then your Yoyoor smart phone number (ex. 011-86-13912345678). To call your rental phone number from other countries, your friends must dial the China country code "+86" before dialing the cell phone number.

How do I call my other friends' cell phone in China?

Some Chinese mobile numbers require the addition of a "0" at the beginning, others do not. If you make a call without the 0 and it does not work, please add a "0" and dial again.

How do I call local phone number in China?

To make a phone call within China, make sure you dial the proper city code and phone number (ex. 010-61234567)

What's special about Yoyoor GPS?

Yoyoor GPS is interactive. We use an English map (with Pinyin), to make it easier for the customer to read. Remember, our bilingual operator is always at your service.

Can it perform all the functions that a Blackberry can? Such as email, Internet access, etc.?

Yes, and much more.

How much does it cost to send text messages?

Text messages sent from your Yoyoor smart phone back to the USA or internationally are US$0.20 per text message. Incoming text messages to your rental phone are US$0.02 each.

How to dial international calls?

To make an international call from your rental phone while in China, you will save more than 80% by using our integrated IP Call function.

From china to U.S.: Access code-001-area code-phone No.

From china to U.K.: Access code-0044-area code-phone No.

From China to other countries: Access code-00-country code-area code-phone No.

Note: There is no extra "0" or "1" between the country code and the area code.

Can I access my e-mail from Yoyoor ?

Yes, you can. Yahoo and Hotmail can be accessed via WAP.

Or you can set up the email client to point to your email account's POP3, IMAP4, or SMTP servers following the steps below: Tap the Nokia Menu Key and choose Messaging. Scroll down to Mailbox and click. You will be told 'no mailbox defined. Define now?' Choose Yes.

A wizard starts which walks you through the process. First choose Start with the left selection key. Choose your mailbox type using the scroll key and clicking to ensure the correct one is selected with a dot to the left of its name. If you have webmail or an email address from your Internet service provider, choose POP3. Click Next.

Type in your email address. Use the star key to pull up a symbols list so you can choose the '@' symbol and the 1 key for the dot. Choose Next.

Enter your incoming mail server then choose Next and your outgoing mail server then choose Next. Now choose your 'access point'. The choices will depend on which operator you are using at the time and you may need to ask your operator for the right information. You can get the phone to ask you every time if that might be useful. Make your selection then choose Next.

Now give this mailbox a name. Make it meaningful, something like 'Gmail email' if your email provider is Gmail, for example. When this has been entered choose Finish and you will be told'Mailbox setup complete. Settings can be viewed and edited in e-mail settings'. Click OK.

This provides standard settings for Nokia 6110 and can automatically configure your phone via text message. You will need to supply some details about your Internet Service Provider and network operator.

What is EZconnect?

EZconnect is a mobile service that allows subscribers to cost-effectively use their mobile phone while traveling in China. The core of EZconnect's services are call forwarding, live personal assistance, and text message updates on popular activities around China.

Who can benefit from using EZconnect?

EZconnect is introduced for those who go to China often on business, are studying abroad in China, or are in China for an extended period of time. The main aim of the EZconnect is to help these people stay in touch with their friends and family back home easily and economically, while at the same time keeping travelers up-to-date with events happening in China during their visit.

What is the difference between Yoyoor's original TripPal rental package and EZconnect?

With Yoyoor's original package, subscribers rent a TripPal with GPS navigation to attractions, digital camera and web services. EZconnect lets subscribers use their own mobile phone while in China, forwarding calls to their mobile phone in China and letting users enjoy great rates when receiving international phone calls to their mobile phone.

We can also text message weather forecasts, exchange rates and other practical information to subscribers.

What are the fees to use EZconnect? Are there any extra fees?

EZconnect's fees are simple: a one-time activation fee of US$8.00, a daily subscription fee of US$0.25 per day, and US$0.20 per minute to receive calls using the call forwarding feature. These rates are in addition to any charges from your own mobile service provider.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time by calling our call center. Please also remember to deactivate the call forwarding on your own cell phone.

How could I add more minutes in the SIM Card?

If subscribers need to add more minutes, Yoyoor's Call Center can assist them adding more minutes to their phone, and Yoyoor can even charge these extra minutes directly to their credit card (5% surcharge, US$10.00 or more airtime recharge minimum amount).

What are the SMS/MMS Travel/Recreation Updates?

This is a free service and can be customized based on the subscriber's preferences. Yoyoor will send updates about new restaurants that have opened, local events happening in your city, and other interesting happenings to make your trip more memorable and enjoyable. Call Forwarding

What is Yoyoor Call forwarding?

You may choose to add call forwarding as an additional service to your Yoyoor phone rental package or enjoy this service within EZconnect package.

Yoyoor call forwarding service will assign you a U.S. toll free phone number. You may divert your home/office number to this toll free number, subsequently, calls to your toll free number will be forwarded to your rental phone or the phone number in China that you designated on your Yoyoor's EZconnect package order.

How to use it?

1. Order Travel-lite or choose "Call forwarding" option when you order "Smart Phone Rental".

2. Receive the email notification of successful order -"Welcome to Yoyoor".

3. Receive the email entitled-"Your Yoyoor mobile phone number" in which you will find the forwarding number.

4. Set up call forwarding: You will be provided with a toll free phone number, you can forward your home/office/cell phone to your toll free number. For a sample of instructions, click the links below.

7. You may make a test call to your original phone number to be sure the forwarding is in place. Please feel free to ask Yoyoor service center to help to do the test.

How to cancel the call forwarding service?
