Yoyoor Bridges Language and Culture Gaps at the 2008 World Crafts Council General Assembly

HANGZHOU, China, Nov 8, 2008 – From November 4 through the 11, 2008, the 1st annual World Crafts Council General Assembly was held in Hangzhou. Over 178 companies from 36 countries were represented at the event. Representing Hangzhou’s high-tech travel service industry, Yoyoor received an enthusiastic welcome on behalf of the conference organizers. Providing convenient services for overseas attendees, Yoyoor made an impressive impact on those who got to experience Yoyoor’s service.

In order to ensure that visitors received convenient and attentive service from the moment they arrived in Hangzhou, the Yoyoor team met with attendees at their hotel the day before the conference began. On the evening of November 3, as overseas guests began arriving at their hotel, they found a Yoyoor kiosk in the lobby.

One group of guests from India, as soon as they saw so many other attendees lining up to rent Yoyoor phones, sprang into action to organize a group rental. The guests rented 14 phones for their entire group, with each member taking advantage of Yoyoor’s great international call rates to call their friends and family in India right after receiving the mobiles.

Yoyoor not only provided a useful mobile phone for guests to use while in China, but also arranges a range of services specifically tailored to increase productivity and clarity at the World Crafts Council General Assembly. Realizing that many of the guests were from the Middle East, Yoyoor added information about the Phoenix Mosque and Muslim restaurants, including text messaging the English and Chinese address to guests’ Yoyoor phones.

Yoyoor also provided a range of other useful services, such as an English-Chinese phrasebook for common phrases related to the conference, phrases helping attendees communicate with taxi drivers and bank tellers, and related phrases. Users also frequently took advantage of Yoyoor’s Helpline to help them resolve personal translation and logistical issues while in China.
